Download the Free CDR Reader software today. The CDR Reader software allows full access to the current CDR software program, but DOES NOT allow you to download CDR data from supported vehicles, to add that functionality you will need to purchase a CDR software subscription.

If you are updating from a previously "activated" version of the CDR Software make sure you have the Activation Certificate file BEFORE you download the newest version. You are required to re-activate your software with each version release.

Support for EDR data retrieval was added for the following vehicles:

• MY2001 - 2012 Toyota vehicles equipped with generation 1 & 2 EDR (requires Toyota cables released for CDR 4.0)

CDR Software Subscriptions

Beginning January 1, 2012, we will only be offering a 1-year software subscription. The 3-year software subscription option will be eliminated.

Unleash all capabilities of the CDR software by purchasing a CDR software subscription.  Once you become a subscriber, you will be sent an Activation Certificate each time a new release of CDR software becomes available during your subscription period.  The Activation Certificate is used to turn on all capabilities of the CDR software and allow you to image crash data from supported vehicles.

CDR software subscriptions do not include CDR hardware release updates. All CDR hardware release updates will need to be purchased separately. To see a complete list of the current CDR hardware, please visit the "Am I Current" section.

Each new release of the CDR System software includes new capabilities and functions which enable you to access crash data from the latest passenger cars, light trucks and SUVs. As the capabilities in supported vehicles evolve software changes may be required for your CDR System in order to enable communication with and translate crash data from these vehicles. Bosch will send out new releases of software as these changes occur to current CDR software subscribers. If your subscription is nearing its expiration date, do not hesitate to contact Crash Data Group to renew it so that you can take advantage of the latest additions and changes in the CDR Software when it becomes available.

Activation Certificates

The CDR software uses an Activation Certificate to 'turn on' functions available only to subscribers. An Activation Certificate is needed for every new version of CDR software therefore, when a new software version becomes available, the Bosch License Manager System emails all current subscribers a new activation certificate along with installation instructions.

Activation certificates are obtained by purchasing or renewing either a 1 or 3 year software subscription. When you purchase a software subscription, you will receive an email from Bosch Diagnostics that include the Activation Certiifcate file and full instructions for activating your CDR File Reader Software.

The Activation Certificate has the file extension ".CTF". Activation Certificates are simple text files which include information about your subscription. Although a certificate file can be changed using a text editor, it should not be because it will become unusable for future activations if the contents of the file are changed.

Bosch recommends that subscribers keep their Activation Certificates just in case they need to reinstall their software on a new machine or deactivate software on one machine and re-activate on another. Activation certificates can only be used for CDR software versions they are created for.

Software Compatibility with the CDR Interface Module

This software version is compatible only with the blue and green metal CDR interface module marked with a CAN plus logo on its label. Other versions of the CDR module (black plastic or blue units without the CAN plus logo) are not supported and can cause the software not to function as intended. Is Your CDR System Hardware Up to Date?

To take full advantage of this new software version, you not only need to obtain the new Toyota CDR Cable Kit released for CDR version 4.0, you also need to make sure your hardware is up to date through version 4.0 as well. If your CDR Tool has not been updated recently, refer to the CDR Inventory Checklist. CDR Software Version 4.2

IMPORTANT: Installing a CDR version of 3.6  or later over an existing version of CDR software will cause the CDR program to operate as a CDR file reader only, unless the software can be activated using an Activation Certificate. Activation Certificates will only be available to current CDR software subscribers.

If users do not have a means to reinstall a prior version of CDR software, Bosch does not recommend installing a CDR version of 3.6 or later on a computer over a previous version until they receive their Activation Certificates.
