Vehicle Crash Data Retrieval - Crash Data Group

Since the release of CDR version 3.1, the CDR System is available in two main hardware kits which consist of a Premium CDR System Kit (hardware only) and a lower cost CDR System Starter Kit (hardware only). The CDR software is sold separately and is offered as a 1 year or 3 year subscription. In addition, there are several add-on accessories that can be purchased in addition to the main CDR components. This section of the CDR web site lists all the possible kits and components available for purchase for the latest version of CDR software. The Premium CDR System Kit includes all cables and hardware needed to retrieve crash data from airbag control modules (ACM) in Chrysler, Ford and GM vehicles supported by the most recent version of CDR software as of the release of CDR version 3.4. This kit typically includes the components listed below. You may not have all of the components listed below depending on when your system was purchased therefore, to ensure you are using the most up to date hardware, you may want to review the "Are You Current In CDR" section to check the inventory of your CDR System kit.

The CDR System Starter Kit includes all cables and hardware needed to retrieve crash data from vehicles through the vehicle's DLC connector[1]. It does not include CDR direct connect cables and adapters required for connecting directly to an ACM or PCM.

The CDR System Starter Kit was developed specifically as a low-cost entry to allow for the growing need for police departments, private-practice reconstructionists and insurance agencies to collect the crash data when inspecting vehicles. The CDR Starter System is also a low-cost way to have multiple CDR kits available for investigators.

Foot note [1]: DLC downloads are not supported on 2008 and 2009 Chrysler mini-vans and 2009 Dodge Journey. A F-00K-108-385 cable is required for direct- to- module downloads on these vehicles.

CDR v3.1 Hardware Upgrade Kit – P/N: F-00K-108-426

CDR v3.1 Hardware Upgrade Kit includes all cables and adapters available as part of the version 3.1. It has not changed since there release of CDR version 3.1 (approx. November 2008). This kit provides you with the 4 cables you will need to download EDR data from select Ford and Chrysler airbag control modules and an ACM power adapter. This kit is only needed if your CDR Hardware Kit was purchased prior to the release of CDR version 3.1. Version 3.1 and newer software versions support the new vehicle coverage these cables support.

Important: The above ACM Adapter requires the updated CDR power supply which was included in CDR kits starting in late 2007. Make sure that you check your CDR kit to make sure you are using the updated power supply when using the above CDR components. The part number is located on the label on the bottom side of the unit. The part number on the unit should be 02002435. If you need to order the updated power supply you will need to order P/N: F00E900104 which comes with both power supply and detachable A/C power cord.

F-00K-108-277 is the part number for the PCM Interface Kit which includes the components listed below. This kit provides you with a PCM Interface Adapter and 3 cables needed to download EDR data from select Ford PCMs with Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). Version 3.0 and later software versions support this capability already.

Important Information about the FORD PCM Interface Kit
The PCM Interface Kit requires the following ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS which are provided in the most current CDR Hardware Kit. If you purchased your kit prior to the release of CDR version 3.0 (late 2007) then you will need to order the items listed below when purchasing a Ford PCM Interface Kit. Be sure to check your current CDR kit components to determine if you need the items required for use with the PCM Interface Kit - see below CDR Power Supply Kit (regulated 12V, 2.5A): P/N F00E-900-104, which consists of the following components: AC/DC 12V Power Supply (regulated 12V, 2.5A): P/N 02002435 Detachable Power Supply Cord North American: P/N 03002165-003 OBD II Vehicle Interface Cable (16 pin DLC Cable with VPS): P/N F00k-108-287 Tip: The part number for this power supply is located on the label on the bottom side of the unit. Check to see if you have this power supply already before ordering. The detachable cord comes with the power supply in CDR tool kits purchased in late 2007. If you need a new power supply, order the F00E900104 number to get both power supply and detachable cable together.
