Generally, these modules can store up to two crash records as described below

First Crash Record: non-deployment events are stored in the first crash record until another non-deployment event occurs or a locked (deployment) event occurs at which time the previous non-deployment event will be overwritten.  Locked events cannot be overwritten.

Second Crash Record: a second crash event record can be recorded only if the first record is locked and a second locked or non-deployment event occurs within 30 seconds of the first event. Like the first record, non-deployment events will get overwritten by other non-deployment events or a locked (deployment) event.

 The CDR report may provide you with the following data elements:

Longitudinal and Lateral Crash Acceleration Data (G's and calculated delta-V)

  • Only for the first crash record

  • Only for locked (deployment) events

Pre-Crash Data (-4 to 0 seconds)

  • Accelerator Pedal Position (%)

  • Vehicle Speed (MPH)

  • ABS Event in Progress

  • ESP Event in Progress

  • TCS Event in Progress

  • Brake Lamp Switch Depressed (from PCM)

  • RCM Serial Number Received by OCS

  • OCS Sensor Status

  • OCS System Level 1 Fault

  • OCS System Level 2 Fault

  • Vehicle Calibration ID

  • Vehicle Model Year Calibration ID

- System Status at Time of Retrieval

  • VIN as programmed into RCM at factory

  • Current Lifetime Operating Timer (sec)
