The module accessed using this cable is not capable of capturing "pre-crash" data; however, it records important information about the status of the vehicle at impact and the activities of the airbag control module (the Restraint Control Module or RCM) to deploy restraint system components.

The report will provide the end user with several data elements including but not limited to:

  • The number of restraint system diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present when the event occurred
  • Time from algorithm enable to driver’s and passenger’s seat belt pretensioner deployment enable (msec)
  • Timing of the deployment command for various restraint systems including the driver’s and passenger’s first and, where applicable, second stage airbags and belt pretensioners for buckled occupants (msec)
  • Longitudinal Crash Pulse data including a data table and data graph showing the longitudinal acceleration and resulting change in forward velocity (delta-V, MPH) versus time (Acceleration and delta-V polarity conforms to SAE J211)
    • The module contains 116 milliseconds of acceleration data at 1ms intervals. Users should be aware that most crashes last 100 to 150 milliseconds, and that the limited time duration of data may not be sufficient to capture the entire crash. Proper use of this limited data is taught in the Bosch approved CDR analyst training class.

Important: Always refer to the Data Limitations/ Module Information section in the CDR report for further information about the data collected from these modules.
