About Crash Data Retrieval
The CDR System is a combination of hardware and software providing access to vehicle pre-crash and crash data that may be stored in late model passenger cars, light trucks and/or SUVs. This system currently supports certain GM, Ford, Chrysler, Fiat and Toyota vehicles.
The crash data in supported vehicles is recorded to the event data recorder, located in the airbag control module (ACM) and/or powertrain control module (PCM). The CDR System allows users to "image" the crash information from the ACM and/or PCM and display the information in data tables giving crucial information in the analysis of the vehicle crash without erasing or altering the stored data. The Information can then be saved and printed in PDF format.
Crash Data Group is the exclusive distributor for the Crash Data Retrieval System (CDR System) product line. Bosch Diagnostics, the leader in Event Data Recorder (EDR) information retrieval technology, is the only manufacturer to offer the commercially available CDR System.
Quick, Easy and Reliable
The CDR System is a game changer for evaluating collisions and has a proven track record of admissibility at trial.
- Obtain pre-crash and crash data
- Obtain crash severity data (deltaV)
- Obtain vehicle speed
- Provide accurate data in your collision reconstruction
- Determine if certain crash scenarios are possible
- Being prepared to explain the crash data if the "other side" also has the crash data
- Evaluate fraudulent claims
- Make accurate, defensible determinations where liability is questioned
- and many other valuable applications

The Crash Data Retrieval System is capable of recovering crash and/or pre-crash data from supported GM, Chrysler, Ford, Fiat and Toyota vehicles. There are many valuable parameters that are recorded by the vehicles Event Data Recorder (EDR) in the Airbag Control Module (ACM). The amount of data is dependent on the Manufacturer and year/make/model of vehicle in question. Some of the crash parameters that may be recorded include:
- "x" seconds of pre-crash data
- Speed of vehicle (MPH)
- Crash severity (delta-V)
- Safety belt status (buckled/unbuckled)
- Engine throttle %
- Accelerator pedal %
- Brake switch status
- Brake lamps status
- Cruise control status
- Yaw rate (deg/sec) (if equipped)
- Traction control button (if equipped)
- Shift gear position (if equipped)
- Seat track position (if equipped)
- Airbag Warning Lamp "On" Time Before Event (min)
- Tire pressure
- and many other valuable parameters
